The stripes symbolize Adidas emphasis on variety while the three trefoil leaves give the viewpoint of three parts of the globe, namely North America, Europe and Asia, where the company accelerates in its business fortunes.

The trefoil logo was designed in 1971 and launched a year later, and used in the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. It lasted 25 years till 1997; the company introduced the three bars logo exclusively designed by Peter Moore (Creative Director), initially used in the Equipment product range of Adidas. Moreover, the registered design for shoes in 1949 fused the three stripes along the side.
